Monthly Irish History Highlight

Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival on November 1st, marked the end of harvest and the start of winter. It was believed the boundary between the living and the dead weakened, with spirits crossing over. Bonfires and offerings were made to protect from harmful forces, traditions that still influence modern Halloween.
